Mary Page Hickey has studied the art of botanical painting for the last twenty years, whenever possible with internationally-known teacher, Anne-Marie Evans. Mary Page is also known for her work in horticultural consulting with public and private clients. Her deep love of nature and plants, greatly influenced by her family, has focused her quest for perfection in illustrating artistically not only the botanical aspects of various plants, but also their unique traits.
Mary Page collaborated with several artists on a book, American Botanical Paintings: Native Plants of the Mid-Atlantic, available on Amazon. She has exhibited at The Garden Club of America Headquarters, New York, NY; the Athenaeum, Alexandria, VA; the High Peaks Art Show, Keene Valley, NY; and the Cosmos Club, Washington, DC. Her Pyris communis, Bartlett pear, was exhibited at the London Garden Museum Tradescant Fruits Exhibition in 2017. Her work for the book was exhibited at the U.S. Botanic Garden for four months in 2014. Her paintings are frequently shown on journal covers and in periodicals.
Professional memberships include the American Society of Botanical Artists, Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region, and Botanical Artists for Education and the Environment, on which board she serves. The Garden Club of America awarded her the prestigious Horticultural Arts Award in 2012.
