As an artist, Karen Coleman is passionate about the world of plants and traditional botanical art. In 2010, she earned a Certificate of Botanical Art & Illustration from the Brookside Gardens School, Maryland, where she now teaches. Her work has been shown across the U.S. and at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London, and is in the permanent collection of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation.

Karen is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region, Botanical Artists for Education & the Environment, and a Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of America. She lives in western Loudoun County, Virginia, where she is inspired by the open spaces and native plant life. In her art she strives to convey a sense of wonder and respect for the natural world, as well as a desire to protect what we have left.
