Juliet Kirby grew up in an artistic family in England. She studied fine art in London at the Byam Shaw School of Fine Art and at the Central School of Art, specializing in life drawing and wood engraving.

After emigrating to the United States, she became interested in Botanical Art and, with a Certificate from the New York Botanical Garden, proceeded to illustrate the plants from her flower garden or orchid collection. In 1996 she moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, and grew another garden full of peonies and magnolias.

Juliet teaches Advanced Botanical Watercolor at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, as part of their certificate program in Botanical Art. She has exhibited her work in group and solo juried shows in the USA and England, including shows at the Royal Horticultural Society in London, the Athenaeum, and the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, DC. She has two illustrations of native trees in the book American Botanical Paintings Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic.

She is a member of the Association of Botanical Artists, the Botanical Art Society of the National Capitol Region, and Botanical Artists for Education and the Environment.
