I majored in Botany as an undergraduate and have advanced degrees in biology. My artistic studies include classes at the Taos Institute of Arts, Brookside School of Art and Illustration and workshops with various national and internationally known artists. I served as the Botany instructor for the Brookside Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration and taught many classes for the Brookside adult education program. In 2011, I was invited to teach two 30-hour classes in Botanical Art at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. I currently teach a 30-hour Botanical Art course for Prince Georges Community College.
My work has been shown in many juried exhibits including Brookside Gardens, Green Spring Garden, Strathmore Mansion, The Athenaeum and solo exhibits at Art Partners Gallery in Clarksville and Brookside Gardens.
In 2005, I served as the founding president of the Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region, and I recently served as the newsletter editor. I am a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. My paintings celebrate the joy plants bring to my life.
