Gail is a life-long dabbler in photography and art, with a love of architecture, gardens and arboretums. She has studied botanical art since 2008, earning the Certificate in Botanical Illustration from Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia. She travels extensively for business and pleasure, and always has a sketchbook in hand, working primarily in watercolor, pen and ink and colored pencil.
Gail’s art has been awarded State Fair ribbons in Indiana and Virginia. In 2014, she was awarded the blue ribbon at the Virginia Orchid Society Show. In 2015, her watercolor, colored pencil, black and white photography and fiber art entries were awarded first place ribbons at the Virginia State Fair. She has exhibited in invitational shows in Richmond, Williamsburg and Staunton, VA, and in juried shows at Brookside Gardens, MD, and at The Athenaeum in Alexandria, VA.
Gail is President of BASNCR, a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), a member of the Central Virginia Botanical Artists (CVABA), and a member of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation at Carnegie-Mellon University.
Her most inspiring subjects are bulbs, roots, fruits and vegetables, and dried specimens, exploring the full botanical spectrum and life cycle.
