I worked for the State of New Jersey for twenty-five years; five years I investigated child abuse and the last twenty years as a Director in the Medicaid Program. I earned a BSW from Kean College, Union, NJ, and a MSW in Administration, Policy and Planning from Rutgers, NJ.
After retirement, my husband, Bob, and I relocated to Virginia where I volunteered for three years as the state ombudsman at a local nursing facility. In addition, I volunteered with several community organizations including my HOA as a day trip planner, which took me to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond. I became interested in botanical art through the classes they conducted. I completed the Botanical Illustration Certification program. I continue to take classes, and I have explored other classes and mediums such as colored pencils and acrylics. I find watercolor the most challenging and enjoyable.
I exhibited my art in invitational shows in Palmyra, Richmond, Staunton, and Williamsburg, Virginia, and in juried shows at Brookside Gardens, MD, Louisa Art Association in Louisa, and Lewis Ginter Garden, Richmond.
At the 2009 Fluvanna County Art Association annual show, all of my entries received awards, second place and two honorable mentions. I am a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), BASNCR, Fluvanna County Art Association ( FCAA), and the Central Virginia Botanical Artists (CVBA).
I have three adult children, two of which reside in Virginia and one in Florida. My husband and I spend the winters in Florida at our residence in Rockledge.
