I convey my sense of the beauty of plants by using the Renaissance medium of silverpoint drawing. Using a silver stylus is a demanding technical challenge. The lines are delicate, yet will last for many hundreds of years.

For example, one of the images I have chosen for this gallery is Peony (Paeonia sp.). It is a seedpod on a plant that I have studied for many summers on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. The plant grows in the Asticou Garden in Northeast Harbor. Each year the gardeners tie pieces of beige raffia around the pods so that visitors don’t steal them. The tied pods with their bows become little gifts to the eye. I created this drawing with a silverpoint stylus and watercolor on prepared archival paper. Then, I illuminated it with a wash of 24-karat gold.

My artworks are collected by leading museums, corporations, and private collectors. They have been exhibited in more than 230 solo or group shows devoted to regional, national, and international art.

I earned degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA), Carnegie Mellon University (BA), and Case Western Reserve University (MS). I am listed in Who's Who in American Art.
